JAKARTA – Given the approaching opening match of the 2026 World Cup, England has released the squad’s back numbers for the tournament.
Just like at Euro 2024 two years ago, Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham wore the numbers 9 and 10 respectively.
Player numbers such as Jordan Pickford (number 1), Declan Rice (number 4), and Bukayo Saka (number 7) also remain unchanged.
Of the nine players making their senior debuts at the tournament, two of them were given squad numbers between one and 11 – Nico O’Reilly (number 3) and Elliot Anderson (number 8).
At Euro 2024 under manager Gareth Southgate, the 10 players who received the number between one and 11 started in England’s 1-0 win over Serbia, with only Luke Shaw (number 3) on the bench.
In the 1-2 defeat against Spain in the final, the number of core players returned to 10, with Kobbie Mainoo as the only player outside the 11 main players who were named as starters.
Thomas Tuchel’s team will wear a white-and-blue home uniform when they begin the 2026 World Cup campaign on June 17, 2026 against Croatia in Arlington, Texas.
England will also wear the uniform for the second game of the group stage six days later against Ghana at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
For the final match in Group L, England will switch to red jerseys and blue shorts to face Panama on June 27, 2026 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
