JAKARTA – The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) has decided to send 26 players to compete in the 2026 Badminton Asia Junior Championships (BAJC 2026).

BAJC 2026 will take place on June 26-30, 2026 for the doubles and July 1-5, 2026 for the individual events in Yatsushiro, Kumamoto, Japan. The squad that will appear in the tournament has been released by PBSI on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

“Today we released 26 junior athletes to the 2026 Badminton Asia Junior Championships. They are the best athletes ready to defend Indonesia,” said PP PBSI Secretary General Ricky Soebagdja, in an official statement received.

The players who will depart first held a BAJC doubles simulation at the PBSI Cipayung National Training Center, East Jakarta, on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, afternoon to evening. A total of 20 athletes were divided into two groups to face each other.

The Garuda team is driven by Fardhan Rainanda Joe, Jolin Angelia, and Muhammad Rizki Mubarrok. Meanwhile, the Rajawali team is filled with Radithya Bayu Wardhana, Mayla Cahya Afilian Pratiwi, and Selsi Josika.

“I advise you with the good things that have started from the summoning and preparation here, it’s just how to show it on the field later. Spirit, fighting spirit must be shown, and must always give the best,” said Ricky.

The players who departed for Japan consisted of residents of the PBSI Pelatnas and those from clubs. PBSI involved talent scouts from the selection process to match accompaniment.

Manager of the Indonesian Team, Eskar Denatara, said that all players were in fighting condition. He said they had been forged technically, physically, and psychologically during the training camp for about a month.

“The children have a fairly good adaptation, they quickly adjust to how the conditions here are, of course with high-intensity training, there is also a burden there, and responsibility. They have been at their best,” said Eskar.

BAJC 2026 will use a different scoring rule. Although it still adheres to the relay point system, the scoring format is 55 points x 3 sets. Each set consists of five matches including men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.

One match plays 11 points so the total point collection is 55 without a set/deuce. The team that wins two sets comes out as the winner.

The Indonesian junior team is scheduled to fly to Yatsushiro on Wednesday, June 24, 2026. In the doubles, the Garuda Muda Squad joined Malaysia, South Korea, and Macau in Group D.
