Chelsea’s running out of luck, the Blues had to face another treacherous defeat as Brighton and Hove Albion crushed their Champions League dreams with a 3-0 loss at the Amex Stadium.
The trip to the south coast was filled with disappointment for Chelsea, as they extended their winless streak to four matches in the Premier League, failing to find the back of the net in any of those games.
Brighton outshined Chelsea on the field, securing a well-deserved victory that moved them ahead of the Blues in sixth place on the table. This defeat marked Chelsea’s first five successive league losses without scoring since 1912.
Ferdi Kadioglu set the pace with an early goal in the third minute, and Jack Hinshelwood doubled the lead in the 56th minute. Chelsea struggled to mount a comeback, and a late goal from Danny Welbeck sealed the deal for Brighton.
Despite their efforts to secure a top-five spot for Champions League qualification, Chelsea remains seven points behind Liverpool. The possibility of a top-six finish seems bleak after a lackluster performance against Brighton.
Brighton’s dominance was evident throughout the match, with several missed opportunities from Chelsea. As Chelsea’s hopes hang on winning the FA Cup, their upcoming match against Leeds United is far from guaranteed success.
