JAKARTA – Rio Ferdinand praised Senne Lammens for his cool head over his impact at Manchester United this season and backed the goalkeeper to become the club’s No.1 for the next decade.
The 23-year-old arrived at Old Trafford from Antwerp on the final day of last summer’s transfer window and has enjoyed an impressive debut season.
So far this season, Lammens has appeared 32 times in all competitions and has been a regular starter since his debut against Sunderland in early October 2025.
Former Manchester United defender Ferdinand praised Lammens on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast and backed him to continue to improve.
“The calmness he showed, the number of saves he made, and the contribution he made to this team, I think it can’t be measured by numbers.”
“He’s amazing and still young. That’s what I like about him. He’s young, he’ll keep getting experience, he’ll only get better from now on.”
“I don’t think it matters how good or bad the game is, I think he will stay at the same level, very calm and not too emotional.”
“I think he will be one of Manchester United’s main players for the next 10 years, he will be the number 1 goalkeeper.”
“He’s another great player, has a strong foundation to start building on what he’s shown this season,” Ferdinand said.
Manchester United are now comfortably in the Champions League qualification path with one game remaining. The latest victory over Nottingham Forest 3-2 on May 17, 2026 brought their points tally to 68 points, six points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa.
Michael Carrick’s men will travel to Brighton’s home for the league’s final match, May 24, 2026.
