JAKARTA – Tottenham Hotspur has parted ways with Manager Igor Tudor by mutual agreement after only 44 days in office.
Tudor was only appointed last month and has won just one of his seven games as Spurs edge closer to the relegation zone.
The 47-year-old replaces Thomas Frank on a short-term basis and was initially touted as a permanent candidate.
However, his only victory came against Atletico Madrid – which was not enough to avoid elimination from the Champions League 16th round, with a total of 7-5. They are currently ranked 17th in the English League, one point above the bottom three.
Tudor’s last game as coach was a 0-3 home defeat against Nottingham Forest last weekend, shortly after he was told of his father Mario’s death.
Launching ESPN, Tudor was given time to process the grief before the two parties decided that the best move was to part ways.
“We can confirm that it has been agreed with Manager Igor Tudor to leave the club immediately. Tomislav Rogic and Riccardo Ragnacci have also left their respective roles as goalkeeper coach and physical coach.”
“We thank Igor, Tomislav, and Riccardo for their efforts over the past six weeks, during which they worked tirelessly.”
“We also understand the grief Igor has recently experienced and send our support to him and his family during this difficult time,” said a Spurs statement.
Coach Bruno Saltor will lead the training for the next few days as most of the main squad are on international duty.
Spurs are expected to appoint a new head coach in the coming days in time for training ahead of their next game, an English League match against Sunderland on April 12, 2026.
It is not yet clear whether the club will appoint a permanent coach or only a temporary coach. Roberto de Zerbi is rumored to be one of the club’s main candidates along with the head coach of the United States National Team and former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Pochettino is committed to leading the United States at the 2026 World Cup this summer, but has expressed a desire to return to England. Meanwhile, De Zerbi is interested in taking over the Spurs, but only if they avoid relegation.
De Zerbi has shown reluctance to immediately take over, but Spurs are trying to convince the Italian coach – who has been unemployed since leaving Marseille in February 2026 – to change his mind.
An alternative in the short term is Sean Dyche. Adi Hutter is also linked with the position. Hutter has coached a number of clubs including Red Bull Salzburg, Young Boys, Eintracht Frankfurt, Borussia Monchengladbach, and Monaco.
Then, there are other former Spurs coaches, Harry Redknapp and Tim Sherwood, who have expressed a willingness to rejoin if asked. Meanwhile, Ryan Mason, who once replaced the manager in a similar situation, is unemployed after leaving West Brom.
Tottenham have previously considered Marco Silva from Fulham, Andoni Iraola from Bournemouth, and Oliver Glasner from Crystal Palace.
